News summary: During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, my country's new energy industry has locked four major industries: nuclear power, wind power, solar energy and biomass energy. In terms of industrial scale planning, nuclear power and wind power have a large scalability space, which is not yet fully determined. The low cost of biomass power generation and the high cost of solar power generation are one of the main reasons for the faster development of biomass energy in the next five years.

The reporter has recently learned from many sources that the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan for the Development of National Strategic Emerging Industries" has entered the stage of soliciting opinions. Zhang Xiaoqiang, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, also said a few days ago that he will strive to release it as soon as possible.

As one of the seven strategic emerging industries, the development of new energy will become the highlight of the transformation of the energy industry.

It is understood that during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, my country's new energy industry has locked in four major industries: nuclear power, wind power, solar energy and biomass energy. In terms of industrial scale planning, nuclear power and wind power have a large scalability space, which is not yet fully determined. The installed capacity of solar and biomass power generation is relatively certain, that is, the next five years will reach more than 10 million kilowatts and 13 million kilowatts respectively. Among them, the installed capacity of biomass power generation increased by 160% compared with 2010. This target figure exceeds the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation.

Shi Yuanchun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, calculated that the installed capacity of 13 million kilowatts of power generation means that 500 to 700 biomass power plants will be added, and more than 100 biomass power plants will be built a year.

Zhou Fengqi, an authoritative energy expert and senior consultant of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, analyzed and pointed out that the low cost of biomass power generation and the high cost of solar power generation are one of the main reasons for the faster development of biomass energy in the next five years.

Currently, the cost of biomass power generation is around 0.7 yuan per kWh, while the price of solar power generation is around 1.5 yuan per kWh. Moreover, “in addition to power generation, biomass energy has many uses, such as gasification, liquefaction, and solid molding fuels.” Zhou Fengqi said.

According to reports, the biomass energy development goal is still set. By 2015, the centralized gas supply will reach 3 million households, the annual utilization of molding fuel will reach 20 million tons, the annual utilization of biofuel ethanol will reach 3 million tons, and the annual utilization of biodiesel Reach 1.5 million tons. Based on this calculation, experts estimate that by 2015, the utilization of various types of biomass will exceed 40 million tons of standard coal.

"At present, if only agricultural straw and other raw materials are used, the total scale of my country's biomass energy can be about 600 to 700 million tons of standard coal." Zhou Fengqi analyzed that although the total amount is limited, it is also considerable.

In this regard, a research report by UBS Securities stated that according to the estimation of the National Development and Reform Commission, the biomass energy that can be used for power generation in my country can reach 500 million tons of standard coal in the short term and more than 1 billion tons of standard coal in the long term. Fully utilized, the installed capacity can reach more than 150 million kilowatts. (Source: Shanghai Securities News)
